Happy Birthday Tyler Piche!

Before-August 2009

After 1 year-August 2010
Well it’s been a year since Shannon dragged me to “try” this new thing called CrossFit. I must say it has been a year of positive changes. I was hooked the first day of CrossFit even though I had no idea what CrossFit was or how to explain it, all I knew was that it was hard, it was fun, and I felt like I got a really good workout even though I couldn’t walk or breath after that first workout, or for 3 months after that… but I continued to go. I finally got Terry there, and then he got hooked. Then the kids started trying it and now they are doing CrossFit. It has turned into a family sport. It has brought us together doing something fun, healthy, and positive.
I started swimming with the masters again in January to get ready for the annual 1 mile swim and beat my time from 3 years ago. I continued to swim a few days a week along with CrossFit and last month broke all my times by almost 2 seconds from 6 years ago! Not only has CrossFit improved my swimming, energy level, and mental health, it has also changed my body. I have lost a half inch to 3 inches all over and have dropped two dress sizes. I have accomplished a lot, but my biggest feat was when I did a PR in the dead lift at 255lbs a few weeks ago. I share these accomplishes with everyone at CrossFit Sonora especially Shannon, Nic and my hubby Terry because they always push me and have supported me. Thanks to all our members for being positive, encouraging and driven, and making CrossFit Sonora a FUN place to WOD! Can’t wait to see what my next year of CrossFit will bring!

swim 2 laps then do 25 air squats and 25 push ups
swim 3 laps then do 25 air squats and 25 push ups…etc…etc until you get to 5 laps and then your squats and push ups

See ya tonight at 5:30!
I wonder what the actual distance of the swim was. That WOD really humbled me, still burping pool water.
I’m thinking that pool must be about 10 meters?? Maybe 15? Felt like 100m tho…
John you did so awesome! Good job!
Congratulations Margie!! I love to see everyones before and after photos! You are doing a great job and I am pleased to hear that CrossFit is helping you succeed at life and the things you love. I admire you for continuing to swim, and I am exited that you’ve been able to see measurable results from CF. I encourage everyone to go out and try something new; a new sport, rock climb, mountain/road bike, this morning I tried to swim. …not sure if you would call it swimming or splashing around. It gave me a new prospective on constantly varied.
Lets all be sure to thank Seth for the use of his pool. Thanks Seth!!
If you haven’t taken before picture yet please do!! If you need someone to take them for you just let Shannon or me know. Its not just about the changes that you feel like increased energy and decreased stress levels, visual differences in body composition will continue throughout your CrossFit career and lets be honest, its what most people notice.
Great job everyone, good luck 5:30, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TYLER!!
Thanks Nic! I have to admit it was so FUN watching you do this WOD today. Running really is so hard for me, but you have encouraged me to keep working on it and I appreciate the kick in the butt.
I had fun being in my water element and sharing my passion for swimming with everyone. Hope we can do it again soon!
Yay!!! I finally beat some of the boys!!
:) Oh yes it felt SOOO GOOD to give you guys a little taste of what us swimmers feel when we have to run!
I second that!
Margie – you are awesome! I am so impressed with your accomplishments over the past year, they make me want to keep working hard. You inspire me with your enthusiasm, and are one of the main reasons I felt like it was “safe” to come try this CrossFit “thing” back in April.
Thanks Michele! If there’s one thing I hope to help others do is at least “try” CrossFit. If I can do it anyone can. I am so glad you like it. I love seeing everyone’s progress. You look great and I love that you are running so well. That is a huge accomplishment, keep going!
Happy 28th Birthday Tyler!
Margie-I am so happy and proud that you were such a good sport and accompanied me to my first WOD. I am also excited about your progress and okay…I can’t lie…I’m jealous of your amazing strength! It brings my heart much joy that your love for CrossFit was infectious to your friends, your husband and your children. We appreciate your positivity which is felt at our box and your smiling face motivates us and others. We love you Margie and are honored that you are our friend and an original member of CrossFit Sonora! I can’t wait to see you smoke this WOD tonight!
Sef-thanks for the use of the pool. You would be proud of how hard everyone was working! We only wish that you were present to suffer with us:) and believe me…it WAS suffering! PS: I don’t think we pissed off the neighbors too much…but I’ll accept responsibility for Andy running around HALF NAKED in his Speedo…maybe the neighbors didn’t like that so much…
So glad we are sharing this journey together! xo
Sorry I had to miss out on today. Congratulations Margie! What an awesome testimony! Glad everyone had a good time!
thanks steve!

Spencer 11:48
Cheryl 13:54

Thanks so much Seth for letting us crash your pool. We all had a blast trying something new and getting wet. Swimming and CrossFit is definitely harder that just one or the other. I have to say I truly enjoyed today’s WOD, being in my environment and watching everyone smile, laugh, and have fun doing something new. I hope we can do it again soon!
Also thanks to everyone for their kind words. You are all special friends. I am thankful to have all my CrossFit friends to share the fun, pain and accomplishments each week.
Can’t wait to see EVERYONE’S before and after photos and testimonials in the coming year.
Share your recent accomplishments with your friends and change their lives like CrossFit has changed yours. Spread the word and share the joy of helping someone start a new healthy chapter in their lives.
